DESCRIPTION:The day will be divided into two parts. \nFirst\, an in-depth lecture on pines (true pines\, genus Pinus) that will be open to all paid club members free of charge.\nSecond\, a Bring Your Own Tree Critique session. \n\n\nEach participant may bring two trees. Everyone’s first tree will be attended to before second trees are seen.\nMark will critique each tree\, which means assessing both strengths and weaknesses\, and making any recommendations he thinks are appropriate. No actual work will be done on any trees.\nCameras\, including video\, and note-taking are encouraged.\nCost will be $25 per participant.\nSilent observers will be allowed for $5 apiece. They may come and go throughout the full four hours. They may take pictures and notes\, but may not ask questions or make comments; “silent” is the operative word.

SUMMARY:Trident Maple all-day workshop with Mark Fields
DESCRIPTION:At the Conservatory\, in the Magnolia Room.\nRoom will be open at 9:30am \nCost for participants is $45. But all participant spots are full. (It’s always possible someone will drop out at the last minute.)\n\nSilent observers pay $5\, and there’s no limit on the number there.\n\nMark is going to bring along a few of his own trident maple bonsai – and he specializes in the species\, – and give us a talk on trident maples as a species and for bonsai. This is for both participants and silent observers.\n\nWe will then move into the working session. Be sure to bring your tools. Even though there will be no repotting\, we intend to do everything else the trees are ready for. (Observers\, don’t forget a camera\, and I recommend a means to take notes.) This will take up the bulk of the day.\n\nUnderstand that the trident maples come first. Once all work on them is finished for the day\, Mark is willing to critique any other trees which members want to bring in for his attention. He’ll take as many as he can before 6 PM. Our usual rule about taking everyone’s first tree before any second trees are looked at will apply.\n\nIf you’re a paid participant in the workshop\, there will be no additional charge for bringing a tree for critique. (Though you still have to wait until everyone is done with the trident maples.) If you’re a paid observer\, the critique cost will be $20.\n\nWorkshop-related fees should be paid to Ed Hake. Remember\, we can’t take plastic. Checks should be made out to “Fort Wayne Bonsai Club”. Ed also accepts cash.

DESCRIPTION:Limited to 12 participants. Cost to participate: $20.\nMark will accept an unlimited number of silent observers; cost for silent observers is $5.00. \nClub to supply aluminum wire. Anyone who wants to use copper wire will need to supply their own. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring trees of their own trees which are ready for wiring. For those who don’t have any trees at that stage\, there will be cut\nbranches to work with. A participant may bring more than one tree\, but per our standard practice\, everyone’s first tree will be dealt with before anyone’s second tree is attended to. \nBring a camera and a means to take notes\, but please do remember the silent part.\nBottled water will be provided. Bring your own snacks\, if you want any. \nWill be located in the Jaenicke Room of the FW Botanical Conservatory. \n  \n  \n
